Founded in 2019 by Mary Beth Olson, MBO Media draws on her 20 years of experience in PR and communications. With a proven track record for her ability to secure high-impact press coverage and build influential relationships, Mary Beth brings a wealth of expertise to crafting successful media and influencer strategies. Before establishing her own firm, she served as the North American PR lead for COTY Inc., a Fortune 500 company, and played a key role in launching Victoria's Secret PINK in New York City. Upon returning to Washington, DC, Mary Beth launched MBO Media, where she has since worked with an impressive array of clients, including Dominique Dawes, Joseph Blair of the Washington Wizards, PLNT Burger, DC Vegan, BINGE Bar, Rooted3, and numerous businesses and nonprofits throughout the DMV area.

Mary Beth Olson (MBO) is a seasoned publicist, strategic media and communications expert. She is a passionate supporter of all things health, wellness and creative. With more than 20 years of successfully elevating brands, MBO brings an extensive background in beauty, lifestyle, food/beverage, health and wellness to her clients. Having worked in NYC for close to 10 years, MBO has held leadership positions at Fortune 500 companies including Avon Products, Inc., Victoria’s Secret PINK and Coty, Inc. and specializes in celebrity PR, media training, plant-based/plant-forward brands and animal advocacy.
Following a successful career in NYC, MBO created MBO Media, LLC in 2019 and has worked with DC, NYC, Boston, Philly and LA based restauranteurs, entrepreneurs, writers and influencers including Olympic Gold Medalist Dominique Dawes, Celebrity Chef Spike Mendelsohn, NBA Asst. Coach Joseph Blair, DC’s first plant based bar DC Vegan and many others.
As a 9th generation Washingtonian, MBO has a proven track record for securing local and national press coverage in lifestyle magazines such as Essence Magazine, Washingtonian, InStyle, VOGUE, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair and Men’s Health to the nation’s top newspapers such as The New York Times, Forbes, INC. Olivia brings nearly a decade of strategic communications experience managing public relations, social media, internal/executive communications, and crisis communications strategies across various industries including aviation, food and beverage, hospitality, lifestyle, publishing, health and wellness, and various additional sectors.
Her love for writing allows her to quickly understand and elevate brand voice and create compelling pitches that have landed clients in top-tier national media outlets, including Good Morning America, The New York Times, Oprah Daily, The Cut, Bustle, and more.
Olivia is D.C.-based after living in Nashville for nearly a decade and loves trying new restaurants, workout classes, and wellness fads (balance!)

Philip Caulfied

Philip Caulfield (Phil) is a veteran writer and digital strategist. Most recently, he was senior editor at NBC's "Today" show, where he led news and lifestyle coverage for the show's digital newsroom, launched the brand's flagship morning newsletter and covered five Olympic Games. Phil also worked as a writer, editor and producer at the New York Daily News, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.
Phil serves as co-chair of the 83.33 Society for Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Washington, one of the largest social service organizations in the area, and he was a founding board member and coach for Brooklyn Lacrosse, a nonprofit youth lacrosse club in New York City. He's a graduate of Loyola University Maryland and Columbia University in New York.

Kara Brock comes with nearly a decade of agency experience in media relations across wellness, entertainment, and lifestyle sectors. Her client roster has included the likes of business corporations and organizations, such as lululemon, National Geographic, Joybird Furniture, Sony Music Latin America, California Community Foundation and more. She has a proven track record of securing boundary-pushing and sales-driven coverage for clients.
Kara’s past roles include serving as an Account Executive at Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis, a full-service public relations agency firm. While at Sunshine Sachs Kara managed many consumer products client campaigns and provided on-the-ground support at high-profile entertainment events that include the GRAMMYs and the Golden Globes. Prior to Sunshine Sachs, she worked at Mercury Public Affairs, a global public strategy firm. Kara is a graduate of the University of Southern California.
